project overview
The OCO identity translates the product's own logic: a simple, modular system built from few honest parts, directly into its visual language. The logotype takes its round form from the lamp's first module, beneath it, mafer trujillo sits in lowercase italic, quiet and secondary, signaling that OCO is a studio project rather than a faceless product line. Running through the brand´s identity is a single pop of orange: the designer's own signature color. Used deliberately against black, bone, and kraft neutrals to create sharp, confident contrast.

the challenge
The product's whole value proposition rests on simplicity: few parts, no glue, no specialized tools, assembly in under 10 minutes. The challenge was making the brand feel just as uncomplicated: an identity that didn't need explaining, built from as few visual moves as the lamp itself is built from physical ones. At the same time, the project needed to read clearly as authored work, a piece coming out of a specific designer's point of view within a design studio context, not an anonymous commercial product, without relying on decoration or an oversized personal signature to say so.

Solution
The logo's round form is the clearest expression of this: rather than inventing a symbol from scratch, the brand borrows its geometry from the sphere diffuser already at the center of the product, so shape and identity are literally the same object seen twice. OCO takes its sound from foco and ojo in Spanish, the two words closest to what the object actually is: a source of light, and a round form. The name keeps the vowel-heavy echo of both without spelling out either one directly, so it reads as familiar rather than foreign in Spanish, while still landing as a short, easy, invented word in English. That double root also lines up with the rest of the identity: ojo reinforces the round logo and sphere diffuser, while foco keeps the name anchored to the object's basic function: light. The result is a brand system with the same economy of means as the lamp itself: a handful of honest elements, each one doing real work, assembled into something that feels both simple and clearly designed.
